It’s official. The holiday season is upon us once again. For many of us, this means time with friends and family, delicious home-cooked food, and shopping for that perfect gift. It also marks that special time of year office holiday parties.
There are plenty of things you can do to help your office holiday party prep and clean-up easier. If your office is the venue for the party, employees will likely be prepping for the big event.
For your pre-party cleaning crew, gather the following:
- White Distilled Vinegar in a Spray Bottle
- Plenty of Washable Rags
- A Floor Cleaning Mop
- Toilet Brushes
- Vacuum Cleaner
White distilled vinegar is a proven household all-purpose cleaner that works for many cleaning jobs. It’s particularly effective at eliminating odors without the overpowering fumes of ammonia or bleach, which also reduces the risk of allergic reactions for guests with allergies.
Fill the spray bottles with the vinegar and spray countertops, sinks, toilet seats and bowls, glass and mirrors, and any non-wood work surfaces. Chances are your office floors will take a beating during this party, so don’t worry about trying to make them look perfect. Entryway rugs are also recommended for all entrances during the gathering.
To clean non-wood floors, use a solution of 1/3 vinegar to 2/3 water.
- For treated/finished wood floors: use plain warm water.
- For untreated/unfinished wood floors: always use whatever the manufacturer or installer recommends.
If hiring a serving or catering crew, create crew pick-up stations around the office for used glasses, plates, utensils, and napkins. Use trays that can be easily moved from place to place and cloth napkins, if possible. This eliminates the need to have trash cans and dirty paper napkins all around the office. Set up conference tables with tablecloths and add some festive decorations. Do the same with free counter space and serving areas
